There seems to be 3 Main lenses through which the game can be viewed. Each of them have a unique superiority through which the team commonly uses for progression.

The Big Three Superioirities:

  1. Numerical: Positional Model
  2. Positional: Spatial Model
  3. Dynamic: Fluidity Model

What are they?

  • Positional Model:

This model often uses possession as a tool to exploit the free man. This is a big reasons why so many teams try to exploit the free man from their own third. This is done through a positional structure that acknowledges the unique traits of each vertical corridor while staggering players to use diagonality when progressing. This style is often centered around generating a numerical superiority to gain initial progression allowing the team to then either consolidate their advanced position or use other superiorities to continue the attack. In this lens salida lavolpiana, overloads, and understanding different dynamics when making structural changes are some of the most important and most reoccurring concepts. Additionally, it is important to understand the strength of connections being made between players and where the players are establishing these connections.
